In Psalm 63, King David bursts out with a song of confidence right
in the midst of crisis. David’s crisis was that he was a hunted man. People
were out to kill him. Ever feel like somebody or a group of people were out to
get you or that life seems to keep throwing at you one difficult time after
another? It happened with David. I’m sure there was fear, anxiety, and the
overwhelming reality of being in constant danger and relentlessly pursued. Yet,
in all this David interacted with God and found his confidence in the power of
God:
Psalms 63:1-4 "O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh faints for You, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So, I have looked upon You in the sanctuary, beholding Your power and glory. Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise You. So, I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift up my hands."
Three life choices David makes that make interacting with God possible:
The choice to seek God. It is the choice to step into belief and grow in learning who God is. Here is a great quick explanation of who God is click here.
The choice to behold God. It is an unceasing interest, and ever-deepening connection that moves to love and joy and wholeness. Here is a long but good teaching from Pastor John Piper click here.
The choice to trust in God’s love. To David, God’s steadfast love is of such value and trust, it is better than life. The song Way Maker reflects this sense of trusting God click here to hear it.
Those choices brought David through his crisis. What about you?
Revive our soul this week
This is a feature on our website to help us grow in our faith, to listen to and interact with God more and see what He might teach us. Sunday sermons are great, but we felt we could give you a few more teaching bits throughout the week. Some will be seen on our social media, but all will be housed on our church website. We will be adding new content throughout the week. Each week enhances the Bible passage and theme of the upcoming Sunday. So, check it out and use these opportunities to interact with the Lord. He has something He wants to say to you! This week’s theme is around Job 28:28 - "And He said to man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding."

An Opportunity to be a Blessing
While we’re limited in many ways right now, there are opportunities to do good all around us! Prior to the current pandemic restrictions, a relationship was being developed between Neighborhood Church and the chaplain of the Los Alamitos race course. There are hundreds of workers behind the scenes who live on the race course site, oftentimes in difficult living conditions. They could use some basic supplies like small bags (2 lbs.) of rice or pinto beans, also toothpaste and soap. They’re opening a local pantry onsite for the workers and these items will help keep their shelves stocked. Please drop them off at Neighborhood Church - Cypress campus 6143 Ball Road, Cypress Ca, 90630, Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm and Sundays from 8am-12:30pm
Let’s continue to interact with the Lord and grow in our faith!
Growing along with you,
Pastor Mike and Pastor Justin
