REVERE: Walking in the Light of the True God

Awesome is an over-used word. A Google search of “awesome” yielded a collectibles shop, some all-purpose cleaner, a coffee shop, and awesome sauce. All of these fit nicely with the slang definition of awesome on dictionary.com: “very impressive.” 

The first definition on dictionary.com, however, seems like a little much for sauce or all-purpose cleaner: “causing or inducing awe; inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, or fear.” 

When it comes to this definition, none are more deserving to be called awesome than God. In fact, God is the true standard of awesome. He is worthy of our complete reverence. And yet, it is easy for us to simply sigh in the presence of our breathtaking God. How can this be so? In some regard, such is human nature, but thankfully God has given us His Word and His Holy Spirit to tune our hearts and minds to awe, to reverence. 

As we prepare the run up to Advent, we will look at some beautiful encounters with God – some subtle and some staggering – that can help us live reverently before God. Join us as we learn to revere and walk faithfully with our awesome God!
