VOCALS

Here at Neighborhood Church, our vocalist are the frontline in the worship arts team. You are leading worship alongside the worship leader. Not only must you sing, but you must also connect what you are singing to your body, your emotion, and your heart.

EXPECTATIONS FOR REHEARSAL AND SUNDAY

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

  • listen to the youtube links or Spotify playlist (find it on planning center)
  • try to find harmonies if you can. We have multiple vocalists on Sunday, so it is nice to be able to split into parts. If you can't, no problem.
  • If you are leading a song, it is important that you know the tune and be familiar with the lyrics.

WORK WELL WITH OTHER

  • at church, you are working with not only the other vocalists but also the instrumentalist. Treat everyone with kindness and respect
  • there will be times that you will be standing around not doing anything, please be patient!
  • Listen! Half the battle of singing on a team is listening to how the other is singing to match them
  • We are a team! That means, we help where we can and aren't solo lone rangers. If you think you can do it alone, you probably won't fit well here.

ASK QUESTIONS

  • if you don't understand, ask questions!

BE ON TIME

  • that means that you are ready to sing/rehearse at the appropriate time which may mean you come an extra 5-10 minutes early to get your equipment!
  • If you are going to be late (no problem), let your leader know! Text them!

DRESS CODE

  • Since you are on a raise platform, things that are not tooo short, can really seem short on the platform, so be aware of dress/skirt/shorts length
  • If you plan on raising your hands, be aware of how short your shirt can be. No tummies please!
  • On Sunday, dress nicer. Our church culture doesn't dictate having to wear suit or ties, but think about how you would like to present yourself to the Lord
  • No yoga pants, basketball shorts, muscle tanks or flippy floppies.
